Why not have Address on New PAN Cards?
In India PAN Card is becoming an important document day by day. It is a compulsory document / I D Proof for many purpose but it is an incomplete document as it does not bear the address of the PAN Card holder. Now the question arises is why address of the PAN Card holder not printed on the PAN Card?
Recently it was published that PAN Cards printed from 01.01.2017 shall be of new design and details of PAN Card holder shall be printed on PAN Card in both English and Hindi. This is good news but there are certain matters which are not being considered by the Indian Government.
Through this write up we request the Govt. to consider the following points so as to make PAN Card a good and complete document / I D Proof-
- Correct Hindi Translation: Indian Government should ponder that English words can be written in more than 1 way in Hindi. In this case how will the correct word be selected? Such thousands of mistakes are noticed in Aadhaar. For example, my surname is written in English as ‘Moondra’ and in Hindi it is written as ‘मूंदड़ा’ but when automatically translated by software it is written as ‘मूंदरा’ or ‘मुंद्रा‘, which is incorrect. So PAN Card holder should be requested for the correct translation in Hindi for his / her name so that his / her name is correctly printed in Hindi. If this step is not taken then new mistakes in Hindi will emerge resulting into excessive work load of correcting the PAN Card.
- Address on PAN Card: Another important suggestion for PAN Card is to print Address on the back side of the PAN Card. There is sufficient space on the back side of PAN Card so as to fit the address of the holder. This suggestion will make PAN Card a complete document / I D Proof / Card. Presently PAN Card is accepted only as I D Proof and not as Address Proof. After putting this suggestion into action PAN Card will be an all-rounder document / Proof.
- Free PAN Card: Like Aadhaar Card, PAN Card should also be issued for free. At least no charge should be charged for issue of the 1st new PAN Card.
